The Cast of 1776

Justin Pyne (Thomas Jefferson) and Amie Shapiro (Martha Jefferson)

Shelton Craig (Benjamin Franklin), Bradley Miller (John Adams), and Justin Pyne (Thomas Jefferson)

Produced by Westminster Repertory Theatre Co. with permission from Music Theater International (MTI).
1776 is a "stars and stripes" musical that recounts the events surrounding the creation and adoption of the Declaration of Independence through comedy and drama, music and dance.
This Tony Award-winning “Best Musical” is a rousing salute to American patriotism. With witty musical numbers and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and the book by Peter Stone, we’re introduced to John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin as we’ve never viewed them before.
You’ll meet the men of the Continental Congress who forged America: proud, sometimes frightened, and ultimately noble figures determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation. And the women who loved them – Abigail Adams and Martha Jefferson, who proudly withstood the lonely separation from their husbands as these men fought for freedom.
1776 was nominated for 5 Tony awards in its debut year of 1969 and won for "Best Actor", "Best Featured or Supporting Cast in a Musical", "Best Director in a Musical", and "Best Musical".
