This winter, the Rose Center Theater transforms into Sherwood Forest—a world alive with courage, laughter, and the spirit of giving. In Robin Hood and the White Arrow: the Holiday Feast of Stephen, familiar legends find new life, brought forth by a remarkable company of artists whose dedication, talent, and heart illuminate every corner of Nottingham.

At the center of the story is Brennan Eckberg as Robin Hood, the courageous outlaw who steals not only from the rich, but the audience’s hearts. A Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts alumnus and MACY Award winner, Brennan brings both humor and humanity to the role, balancing the bravery of a leader with the warmth of a friend. “Robin is someone who believes people are worth fighting for,” Brennan shares. “He leads with compassion.”

Standing by his side—and sometimes leading the way—is Maid Marian, portrayed by two extraordinary performers: Catherine Dosier and Addison Shay. Catherine, a 2024 Jimmy Awards Finalist and Spirit of the MACY Awards Best Actress for her performance in The Secret Garden, embodies Marian’s intelligence and grace with elegance and emotional power. Her Marian is courageous, witty, and disarmingly kind. Addison, an HBAPA standout known for Shrek the Musical, Beetlejuice the Musical, and Crazy for You, brings radiant energy and heartfelt sincerity to the role, illuminating Marian’s humor and strength. Together, they capture the spirit of the show’s heart—the courage to love, and the grace to forgive.

In Nottingham Castle, power and pride reign. Chris Caputo takes the stage as the imperious Prince John, commanding with the ease of a seasoned professional. A UC Irvine graduate with over 30 years in the theater, Caputo has played leading roles in Man of La Mancha, The Phantom, My Fair Lady, and South Pacific. His Prince John is cunning, charismatic, and larger than life—a royal with an edge of charm that makes his tyranny feel almost human. Opposite him, Edward Bangasser brings texture and wit to the calculating Sheriff of Nottingham. Returning to the Rose after playing FDR in Annie, Edward has long held this story close to his heart—it was during a past production of Robin Hood and the White Arrow that he met his wife, Laura Pasarow Bangasser (who now plays Momere). The two were married right on the Rose Center Theater stage, and now, joined by their son Allan, continue the family’s love story in Sherwood Forest.

Among the men in Lincoln Green, Vincent Aniceto as Friar Tuck provides warmth, humor, and soulful reflection. A performer with decades of stage experience—from The King and I to Sweeney Todd—and two Emmy nominations for producing Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Aniceto infuses his Friar with both joy and gravitas. Erik Duane, a retired Marine Corps officer and longtime Rose performer, lends steady strength to Little John, the loyal companion whose humor and heart ground the Merry Men.

Ben Tietz gives fiery presence to Will Scarlet, joined by his wife Punawai Tietz, who appears among the townspeople of Nottingham. Luke Martucci delights as Midge the Miller, Nathan Willingham charms as the troubadour Alan-A-Dale, and Ben Applegate brings stoic resolve to Erik the Scot. Their camaraderie shines through each scene, and more than just outlaws, they are brothers bound by loyalty and laughter.

Two talented young performers, Charlie Firlik and Donovan Monroe, share the role of Tom, the Boy. Firlik, a Helen Hayes Award recipient with Kennedy Center and streaming credits, and Monroe, an All-American Boys Chorus member, embody the spirit of youthful wonder at the story’s heart. Their joy and curiosity remind audiences why Sherwood endures—not just as a myth, but as a place of hope.

Among the women of Nottingham, Colette Peters brings warmth and poise to Sophie. With national tours and regional credits ranging from Mary Poppins to Mamma Mia! to Ragtime, her artistry elevates every scene she graces. Kelli Griffin, returning to the Rose's stage as Elizabeth, adds vocal brilliance shaped by her training at Wagner College, while Kristin Caputo shines as Gert, lending her voice to the “Song of the People”—a musical moment that captures the heartbeat of the show.

Laura Pasarow Bangasser’s Momere is the soul of Nottingham’s families—wise, tender, and full of love. Onstage with her husband and son, Laura’s performance bridges art and life. Together, the Bangassers bring authenticity and heart to the world of Sherwood, embodying what makes the Rose Center Theater such a special place: connection.

In the forest, the gypsies dance beneath the winter moon. Narumi Alicia Yuzawa as Mirela performs on the Rose stage before starting her journey abroad, leaving behind a legacy of grace and artistry. Ella Collins as Rowena and Zariah Merrill as Medrina fill the stage with youthful energy and grace, while Payton Mariano and McKenzie Hartmark as Zara, and Sandra Aniceto as Esmerela, blend movement and color into every scene. Together, they embody the freedom, joy, and rhythm of the forest itself.

Each actor shines as a piece of a larger mosaic—but the story’s true power lies in the unity of its ensemble. The world of Robin Hood and the White Arrow is made whole by the voices and energy of every performer on stage: from the nobles of Nottingham to the villagers, guards, and young townspeople who fill the story with laughter, music, and community.

“This cast is extraordinary,” says director and composer Tim Nelson. “They’re not just performing—they’re building a world together. Robin Hood’s story has always been about community and hope, and that’s exactly what this group brings to the stage.”

As part of this year’s festivities, audiences are also invited to attend the Feast Day Gala & Fundraiser on Saturday, December 6, 2025—a one-night-only celebration inspired by the spirit of Sherwood itself. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, festive desserts, a complimentary toast, and the chance to mingle with the cast and creative team. Proceeds from the Gala directly support the Rose Center Theater’s mission to make the performing arts accessible to the Orange County community.
