If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into the spotlight, now’s your chance. The Rose Center Theater in Westminster, CA, has announced open auditions for its Fall 2025 production of the beloved Broadway musical Annie. Performances will run from September 13-28, 2025, and the creative team is looking for both youth and adult performers to bring this timeless story to life.

Whether you’re a parent preparing your child for their first audition or an adult performer looking for a principal role, this guide will give you the tools you need to prepare and submit with confidence.

Who Can Audition?

The Rose Center Theater welcomes performers of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels. The casting call includes:

  • Youth Performers (ages 5–15) for Annie, Orphans, and Ensemble

  • Adult Performers (ages 16+) for Leading, Supporing, Featured, and Ensemble roles, including:

    • Miss Hannigan

    • Rooster

    • Lily St. Regis

    • Ensemble singers and dancers

Note on Inclusivity: While the orphan roles will be filled by female-identifying actors, the theater strongly encourages performers of all identities and abilities to audition. The Rose is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming environment to all performers.

What to Prepare

Step 1: Choose Your Song

Select 16–32 bars of a musical theater piece that showcases your vocal range and emotional connection. Ideally, pick something in the style of Annie — uplifting, classic Broadway, and age-appropriate.

Step 2: Record Your Self-Tape

  • Find a quiet, well-lit space

  • Film horizontally (landscape)

  • Begin with a quick slate: your name, age (if under 18), and role(s) you’re auditioning for

  • Perform your song

  • Review before submitting to ensure clear sound and video

Step 3: Complete the Audition Form

All tapes must be submitted using the official audition form, available at: rosecentertheater.com/annieauditions

Key Dates
  • Youth Performer Submission Deadline: Friday, August 1, 2025

  • Adult Performer Submission Deadline: Friday, August 15, 2025

  • Callbacks: Date and Time TBA (by invitation only)

  • Rehearsals Begin: Weeks of August 11 for youth, August 18 for adults

  • Performances: September 13-28, 2025

Tips for a Successful Audition
  1. Pick material that fits you: Choose a song that encapsulates you and your energy. Confidence is key.

  2. Be authentic: The production team want to see who you are, not just a polished performance. Let your personality shine.

  3. Follow instructions carefully: Complete the audition form, label your files correctly, and submit before the deadline.

  4. Dress simply but neatly: For self-tapes, avoid busy patterns. Solid colors on a plain background are best.
