Supporting the Future of the Rose Center Theater
For more than 20 years, the Rose Center Theater has been managed by Friends of the Rose Center Theater (FRCT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality performing arts programming for our community.
Your Voice Matters
If you value the Theater’s leadership under Friends of the Rose Center Theater and its community-centered programming, now is an important time to respectfully share your perspective. As the City evaluates future venue management through the upcoming Request for Proposal (RFP) process, an important structural consideration is being discussed:
Should the Theater and the Ballrooms continue to operate under separate management, as they have for the past two decades?
This structure has allowed Friends of the Rose Center Theater to focus exclusively on arts programming while ballroom operations function independently. Many community members believe this long-standing model has served Westminster well.
A Structure That Works
The Theater and the Ballrooms operate under distinct missions and business models.
The Theater
-
Nonprofit-driven, arts-focused programming rooted in public service
-
Educational initiatives and youth involvement across diverse communities
-
Community-based productions that reflect and celebrate the cultural richness of Westminster
-
Partnerships with schools, cultural organizations, and qualifying nonprofits
-
A longstanding track record of inclusive programming serving multicultural audiences and community groups
-
Accessibility and affordability as core priorities
The Ballrooms
-
Event and rental-focused operations
-
Corporate, private, and banquet services
-
Distinct operational and revenue structures
Maintaining separate management allows each to operate with clarity of purpose and specialized expertise.
A Record of Community Impact
Under FRCT nonprofit management, the Theater has:
-
Produced consistent, community-centered programming
-
Created meaningful opportunities for local artists and students
-
Fostered cultural enrichment through diverse and inclusive storytelling
-
Collaborated with schools, senior organizations, cultural groups, and fellow nonprofits to expand access to the performing arts
-
Built a loyal and growing patron base
-
Operated with fiscal responsibility and transparency
Continued management by Friends of the Rose Center Theater supports artistic stability and long-term planning, while allowing the City to evaluate ballroom operations independently.
The decisions made during this RFP process will shape the Theater’s future for years to come.
