Now Accepting Self Tape Submissions!

The Rose Center Theater invites performers to audition for the upcoming production of Annie, playing September 13–28, 2025. The Creative Team are now accepting video audition submissions for youth and adult roles in this timeless Broadway musical!

About the Production

Annie is a classic Broadway musical with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and book by Thomas Meehan. Based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the show is known for its heartwarming message, unforgettable songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” and its celebration of hope and resilience.

Audition Format:

Video submissions (self-tapes) only. There are no in-person auditions scheduled at this time.

Submission Deadlines:

Adult Performers (ages 16+): Deadline to submit a tape is 12 PM PDT Friday, August 15th

Youth Performers (ages 5–15):  The submission window is now closed.

Callback Information:
Select performers will be invited to in-person callbacks at the Rose Center Theater
Callbacks will be in August with Date & Time TBA

Important Dates:

First Rehearsal for Youth Performers: Begins week of August 11

First Rehearsal for Adult (16+) Performers begins week of August 18

Tech Week: September 8–11, 2025

Opening Night: Saturday, September 13 at 7:30 PM

Closing Performance: Sunday, September 28 at 2:00 PM​

Performance Schedule:

Fridays & Saturdays: 7:30 PM (Sept. 13, 19–20, 26–27)

Sundays: 2:00 PM matinees (Sept. 14, 21, 28)

Rehearsals:

While a rehearsal schedule is still being finalized, rehearsals are generally held on weekday evenings and select weekend afternoons. Outside of tech week and performances, cast members are only called to rehearsals for scenes in which they are actively involved, meaning not all cast members will be required at every rehearsal. You will have the opportunity to submit any known scheduling conflicts in the form below. 

Contract: 

This is a non-union civic production. A stipend will be provided to actors based on role.

How to Submit:

All audition materials will be submitted via the form at the bottom of this page. Please carefully follow the instructions below. Failure to do so may result in your submission not being accepted. 

What to Prepare for Your Self Tape

Please submit a clear and well-lit video that includes:

  • A slate with your Full Name, Height, Age (only if under 18), and Current location/Homebase. Note the Production will only be considering local talent at this time. 

  • A performance of 32 bars (no longer than 1 minute) from a classic Broadway or similar musical theater song

  • Singing from the show is acceptable.

  • Do not sing a cappella — use a piano or karaoke backing track

  • Perform in a quiet space with minimal background noise

Tips for a strong self tape:

  • Film in landscape mode and keep your chest and full face in frame

  • Use good front lighting (natural light or ring light recommended)

  • Before submitting watch your tape to make sure we can hear and see you clearly

What to Include in Your Submission:

  1. One (1) video link featuring your SLATE and SONG combined into a single clip. 

  2. One (1) video link of your dance or movement reel (optional - only if available)

  3. A Current Headshot

  4. A PDF of your résumé 

Video Hosting:
Upload your video/s to a platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, or Google Drive. Make sure the links are shareable, not set to private, and do not require a password.

At the Rose Center Theater, we believe that the magic of storytelling is strongest when our stage reflects the beautiful diversity of our community. We welcome and encourage performers of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities to audition as our team is committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment for every performer. For this production of Annie, the creative team will cast youth performers who identify as female in the roles of the orphans, in keeping with the spirit and tradition of the show. 

 

Seeking the Following:​

Adult Roles (Ages 16+)

  • MISS HANNIGAN: The disheveled, boozy, and bitter matron of the orphanage. Strong comedic timing, character acting, and vocal skills. Must command the stage with charisma and physicality. Vocal Range: G3–D5

  • ROOSTER HANNIGAN: Miss Hannigan’s slick, scheming younger brother. A charming con artist with a dangerous edge. Strong mover with character voice. Vocal Range: B3–G4

  • LILY ST. REGIS: Rooster’s flashy, airheaded girlfriend. Showy and comedic, with great chemistry with Rooster. Think ditzy mob moll with flair. Vocal Range: D4–Eb5

  • FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT: The President of the United States. Warm, authoritative, and optimistic. Requires excellent diction and presence.

  • BERT HEALY: A fast-talking, charismatic 1930s radio personality. Leads the "Never Fully Dressed" number. Strong tenor and ensemble singer. Vocal Range: B3–G5

  • CHORUS/ENSEMBLE: Seeking versatile performers to bring a variety of featured and ensemble roles to life. Strong vocal and movement abilities required. Ensemble performers will be featured in dynamic musical numbers and must be comfortable with quick changes and character shifts.

(The roles of Daddy Warbucks and Grace Farrell have been cast.)

Submission Window for Youth Roles (Ages 5–15) Has Closed. 

All orphan roles require strong singing and acting ability. Movement/dance skills a plus. All orphans should have big personalities and excellent stage presence.

  • ANNIE: A smart, brave, and optimistic orphan who dreams of finding her parents. Strong belter with excellent acting skills. Must carry the show with confidence, charm, and emotional depth. Vocal Range: A3–E5

  • MOLLY: The youngest orphan. Sweet, endearing, and often needs comforting. Small but spunky with good comedic timing.

  • PEPPER: The toughest orphan. Feisty and sarcastic. Often the first to speak up or challenge authority.

  • DUFFY: The oldest orphan. Confident and mature. Often acts as a big sister to the others.

  • JULY: Quiet, motherly, and gentle. A calming presence in the orphanage.

  • TESSIE: Always worried. Often cries out, “Oh my goodness!” Needs strong comedic delivery.

  • KATE: A shy orphan who follows the others. Sweet-natured and eager to please.

  • ENSEMBLE ORPHANS: Additional performers may be cast to join the orphan ensemble. Energetic and expressive. All must sing well and move confidently.

  • YOUTH CHORUS/ENSEMBLE: Seeking versatile performers regardless of gender to bring a variety of ensemble roles to life.
